Portfolio Bootcamp

Reid Schlegel

Collaborate with an experienced intern coordinator and hiring manager to refine your design portfolio, ensuring it aligns with the high standards of elite design consulting firms. Through weekly presentations, group critiques, and individual feedback sessions, students will address every critical component required in an industrial design portfolio, crafting a unified narrative of their design process.

Learning Outcomes

  • Selection and refinement of an existing portfolio project by each student.

  • Initial class involves project presentation for critique and planning improvements.

  • Designing portfolio layout

  • Crafting 'About Me' sections and resumes
  • Introducing projects effectively

  • Developing mood boards

  • Applying research methods

  • Building a cohesive narrative

  • Course ends with a final review by the instructor and two industry experts.


Reid Schlegel


Reid Schlegel, an industrial designer and illustrator based in New York City, boasts an extensive background in design consulting and education. He is the founder and design director of RS.D and has held positions at prestigious firms such as HUGE, Aruliden, frog, and SMART Design. As an educator, Reid imparts his knowledge at Parsons School of Design and Kean University, and he frequently visits universities worldwide to guest lecture on his design process methodologies and skills.
Reid also manages an Instagram account with over 130,000 followers, where he shares his work and design insights. In his leisure time, Reid enjoys constructing custom cabins in upstate New York.
