This comprehensive course in industrial design sketching takes you from the fundamentals of putting pen to paper to mastering advanced techniques. It focuses on using sketch rendering to bring design objects to life, emphasizing their form and function. The course includes freehand sketching for ideation and thumbnail sketches, as well as shading, form development through rendering, and techniques in orthographic projection for precise technical drawings. You'll also learn two-point perspective to improve spatial understanding. Throughout, you'll gain the confidence and skills needed to effectively communicate and express your design ideas visually using sketching as a key tool.

Hector Silva
Hector Silva, an industrial designer and educator, specializes in creating innovative designs for everyday objects, with a recent focus on food design through his own studio, H Design. Collaborating with top brands like Crate & Barrel and Nickelodeon, Hector applies his expertise to a range of fields from toys to housewares. As a seasoned design educator with over eight years of experience, he has taught at prestigious institutions like the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Notre Dame, the Academy of Art University, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Rochester Institute of Technology, earning the title of Young Educator of the Year from the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).
Driven by a deep commitment to accessible design education, Hector Silva founded the nonprofit Advanced Design (AD), an organization highly acclaimed and awarded the Special Achievement Award by IDSA for revolutionizing design education and making it more inclusive. Under his guidance, AD has grown substantially, bridging the gap between students and industry professionals, thus fostering a community focused on design excellence. Additionally, Hector initiated Offsite, an experimental design school that transcends traditional academic approaches to design education. This cutting-edge program, tailored to meet industry demands, is led by prominent figures in the design industry.
