From my own business, to startups, to studios and corporate, I will share my personal experience and knowledge of being an industrial designer within these very different environments.
Director of Industrial Design at Quip,
Owner of Louis Filosa Studio
Louis Filosa is an industrial designer with a purpose to create physical objects that blend function and unique experiences with inspiring brands. He’s driven by a philosophy of "simplicity with a soul", inspired by holistic and beautiful forms, and the rejection that minimalism has to be cold. After graduating from Purdue University with a degree in industrial design, he worked as an apprentice under some of the world's most influential industrial designers such as Karim Rashid, Marcel Wanders and Michael Graves. Louis has partnered with the award-winning restaurant and hospitality firm AvroKO to create furniture & lighting designs for their unique restaurant and hotel interior spaces. He’s also collaborated with Fab.com in designing and developing their first line of furniture, lighting and home accessories to be sold online directly to customers. Louis is currently the director of industrial design at Quip and the owner of Louis Filosa Studio. In the past, he has worked with major US design retailer CB2, partnered with Gantri to design lamps using their groundbreaking 3D printing platform, and was recently the director of industrial design at SC Johnson Lifestyles Business (Method, Ecover, Babyganics, Mrs. Meyers).
