CMF: From Forecasting to Finishes

Taught by Rebecca Goesling

In this class we will explore the relationships between trend research, color theory, material selection, form development and visual storytelling over the course of one extended project. Expect lots of conversation, creation, and visits from industry experts.

You are taking this course to understand how cultural events inform design, living, and purchasing decisions. You will understand the inherent value of colors, materials and finishes and how to best employ them. The ideal student who is interested in this course is curious about how culture impacts design. Are you equally interested in history and the future? Do you love to connect dots?

You will need access to a digital or physical resource to visualize concepts (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and or hand drawing). Any visualization or research background will be useful. More than a specific level of design — we’d love to see students who want to engage with each other and the world.

Experience Level: Beginner - Intermediate
