Form Follows Experience

Taught by Roshan Hakkim

In this form elective class, you will explore the various factors around which the form of a product is created. The course is broken down into eight high-level themes which come into play while facing different projects on the job.

The course would help you to understand the influence of rational requirements, logical systems, emotional perceptions and mental models while exploring the form- building phase of an idea. One can expect several exercises across analysis, synthesis, deductions and discussions. Throughout the course, there will be contrasting jumps from zooming out to fit for context and zooming into the fine details of design consideration.

The study also encompasses the difference between archetype exploration and concept iteration while touching lightly on planning and time management. The course contains scenario exercises mimicking actual life briefings from other disciplines designers have to work with. Lastly, the course also touches upon aspects to consider while designing products with repairability and recycling in mind.
