Alberto Villarreal is a Creative Leader with over two decades of experience that spans the fields of Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, and Design Strategy.
Currently as Head of Product Design at Tonal, he leads both physical and digital design teams, including the User Experience, Industrial Design and CMF functions.
Before joining Tonal Alberto spent the 9 previous years working at Google as Creative Lead in the Consumer Hardware group in the Mountain View headquarters. Leading a team of industrial designers, his role focused on the creative direction of Google's mobile computing portfolio, including devices and accessories. His team at Google worked on the design of the highly recognized line of Pixel mobile products (from the first generation Pixel Phone, through the Pixel 7 product family, as well the PixelBook & PixelBook Go laptops).
Prior to the in-house design experience, Alberto worked as consultant. He co-founded the firm AGENT based in Mexico City, working across industrial design and interior architecture for high profile clients including Nike, Hewlett-Packard, Konica-Minolta, among others.
Alberto has received over 50 international awards in the design & architecture fields, his work has been exhibited around the world and featured in major publications internationally.
In 2011 Alberto was shortlisted as one of the 11 Most Influential Mexican Entrepreneurs of the year, by Milenio press group. He was also featured by ProMexico Magazine as one of the 50 Mexican Names in the Global Creative Scene, and CNET listed him twice in the list of 20 Most Influential Latinos in Tech (2017 & 2018).
