Amunì

Dominic Montante is the founder of Amunì, a name that means “let’s go” in Sicilian dialect and carries a dual meaning: an invitation to start something new together and a readiness to move on to the next place. Conceived as an experimental design studio of the future, Amunì operates beyond the traditional constraints of physical offices, overhead, and borders. The studio has traveled around the world, spending significant time in the United States, Canada, Argentina, France, Colombia, and now China. Dominic’s approach to design is continuously shaped by the art, people, and cultures he encounters along the way, as well as by his own Italian and Lao roots.

A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, Dominic has led Amunì across a broad range of projects spanning electronics, furniture, housewares, lighting, and more. Today, Amunì is a small, internationally distributed team working across China, Japan, Mexico, and Argentina, bringing together diverse perspectives to create thoughtful, commercially viable products. Alongside his studio practice, Dominic has taught Design for Manufacturing at Offsite for the past five years, reflecting his belief that good design does not end with an idea. It must also be engineered, manufactured, and successfully brought to market.
